How to Use Two Wireless Routers

Because of the nature of wireless networks, it's a common task to want to connect to multiple wireless routers depending on your location. Configurations differ between home, office and public networks, and it's not convenient to have to change your settings every time you need to connect. The best way to solve this problem is to use two wireless routers together.

1)Install WiFI drivers. If your computer didn't come with a WiFi card, you need to install your WiFi drivers first. Insert the disc that came with your WiFi card and follow the instructions.

3)Visit each network's location. If each network is broadcasting its Service Set Identifier (SSID), which is the default behavior, Windows should pick up on the networks automatically. You should see a network icon in the bottom right corner of the screen when the networks are detected.

4)Configure each network. While at each network location, configure each network with correct SSID, Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) or WiFi Protected Access (WPA) key and authentication information if applicable. (Not all networks use authentication.) Each network must be configured properly to be able to connect when you return.

5)Configure networks manually. Sometimes you may choose, or it may be necessary, to configure networks manually. This gives greater control over the network configurations, as well as allowing you to configure a network before you reach the location.

business firewalls 6)Click on "Start -> Connect To -> Show All Connections. " If you don't have any networks configured yet, the "Connect To" menu will not be available, in which case you will need to click on "Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections. ".

7)Use the "Create a New Connection" option. Configure the new network connection, using the directions of the provided wizard. You'll need to know the network settings (SSID and WEP or WPA key) beforehand. You may have to contact the administrator of the network for these setting if you don't already know them.

9)Connect to a specific network by clicking on "Start -> Connect To" and then the name of the network. When you move to a new location and need to connect to a new network, you can access it through the "Connect To" menu.

Program a Dish Network Remote Control for Your TV, VCR or DVD Player

If your Dish Network receiver came with a universal remote, you can program it to control other devices such as your television, VCR or DVD player. All you need is the remote code for the type and brand of device you wish to program. Dish Network provides many common remote codes in its user manuals. However, if the remote code for your TV, VCR or DVD player isn't available, you can scan through the remote codes to determine which one works.

Turn on your TV and the device you'd like to program into your Dish Network remote control firewall hardware. Consult your Dish Network receiver's user's manual for the remote code for your device. If you no longer have your user manual, search the DishNetwork. com website with your receiver model number for a copy to download.

To program a television into the Dish Network remote control, press and hold the "TV" mode button until all the buttons light up. Use the "VCR" mode button to program your VCR. You can also use the "VCR" button or the "AUX" button to program your DVD player. If you select "AUX," select "1" to program an auxiliary VCR or DVD player and press "0" to program an auxiliary television.

When the mode button you've selected starts to flash, key in the 3-digit remote code for your TV, VCR or DVD player. Then press the pound ("#") button to save the code in the remote control. Press the blank power button on the Dish Network remote to see if it will turn off your device. If it doesn't, repeat the programming steps using a different remote code for the same type and brand of device.

Press and hold the correct mode button for your device. After the buttons light up and the mode button begins to flash, press the star ("*") key on your Dish Network remote control. Press the blank power button. Then press the up or down arrow button on the remote control. This method tests every remote code in the Dish Network remote control's memory. When your device turns off, press the pound ("#") key to save the remote code network security.

Tablet PCs Future of Computing or Passing Fad

When Apple Inc. announced the in January 2010, the world unofficially entered the "Age of the Tablet PC." Other device manufacturers quickly followed Apple's lead with their own versions, resulting in the market exploding with new tablet computers by the end of 2010. In fact, the January 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) International was home to at least . In February, even more debuted at the Mobile World Congress and the CTIA Wireless events.

network security Is the rising popularity of tablet computers enough to send the desktop computer to its grave, or is the tablet PC simply a fad waiting to fade away when the "next big thing" in technology is developed, as happened to the netbook.

The "modern" computer era began when Apple released the Apple II in 1977, but it cost a whopping $1,298 and only included 4 KB RAM; it was not very popular. Technology has since advanced and desktop computers are smaller, more powerful and inexpensive. Today, anyone can purchase a desktop computer with at least 2 GB RAM, a 500 to 750 GB hard drive, and tons of software.

business firewalls The desktop gave way to mobile computing in 1982 when the first laptop came to market, the GRiD Compass 1101, which cost $8,150. Again, it was not until Apple released the PowerBook in 1991 that laptops became more popular and at only $2,999 to $4,599, they were "inexpensive" in comparison to older models.

Laptops have become smaller, more powerful and inexpensive, but still have the same features that desktops do. The smallest of the laptops is currently the netbook, or the ultra-mobile PC (ULPC). Born in 2007, it offers the same features as laptops, but in half the size. Netbooks sell for about $300 and they were popular initially, but tablets quickly buried them, and they became a three-year fad.

, as of January 2011, 65.8 million Americans owned smartphones. This number rose 8 percent from December 2010, but tablet PC ownership is rising, so the overall smartphone numbers will most likely taper off, if not decline. This is evidenced by the fact that tablet PC market share rose 120 percent to capture 4 percent of the total market in Q4, according to Strategy Analytics.

Tablets will continue to capture even more of the market as 2011 progresses because manufacturers continue to add features and offer them more inexpensively than ever. While Apple had a head start releasing the first tablet PC, thus creating the tablet market, the flood of tablets that have come since then has been astonishing.

The reason for the tablet computer's popularity is simple: tablets offer the same features that desktops and laptops do, but in a smaller form factor. Many tablet computers offer such features as cameras, video recording and playback, Internet browsing with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G or 4G cellular Internet connections, speeds almost equal to desktop and laptop wireless computing speeds and sometimes faster. Some tablets also have dual core processors, giving the devices the same processing power that desktops and laptops have.

Tablets also have some downfalls that manufacturers have begun to address. Tablets lack physical keyboards, large amounts of storage, and they have a short battery life. However, most are compatible with microSD cards for added storage. For the battery problem, most offer extra, switchable batteries. As for the keyboard, most have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi compatible keyboards available. The only thing that would make a tablet better would cellular calling capabilities, but Skype and video chat easily replace this feature.

Desktop ownership has declined since laptops became popular. In fact, only 58 percent of Americans one, an all time low from the 69 percent who owned one in April of 2006. Laptop ownership initially increased, but both laptop and desktop computer ownership fell as tablets were introduced to the market, .

While the desktop market is fading, it will remain necessary on some level, at least for some industries, and especially for those people who work from home. Anyone working on the Internet such as Web designers, Internet Marketers, freelance writers, anyone who works exclusively online needs a desktop.

Imagine a tablet's battery running out with no warning while in the middle of updating a client's website, or in the middle of writing a 30-page e-book; all that work would be lost. Imagine trying to test code on a tablet PC, or trying to store more than 64 GB of data.

The ultimate debate is if the tablet computer's popularity will kill the desktop. No, because these tasks are almost impossible to perform on a tablet, desktop computers will remain a viable market. Nevertheless, once tablet computers overcome these downfalls, desktops will indeed die.

Why It Is Especially Important That You Backup Files On Your Laptop

The mobility afforded by laptop computers makes it very popular for most people around the world. If you have a laptop, you can actually work anywhere you like without much trouble. You can even work in the park or at your favorite coffee shop if you want to. With the growing demand for laptops all over the globe, this technology is currently evolving at such a very fast pace. Every now and then, manufacturers would churn out some improved versions of the laptops with more sophisticated features. Unfortunately, even though this technology is improving very fast, there are still many things that people who are using laptops need to contend with.

Some of the most notable problems that laptop users often experience are that sometimes; they could not access their hard drives, they have trouble booting or that their laptops are making those funny noises while they are using them. Such problems could actually lead to hard drive failures and loss of data. Recovering data from your laptop could be more complicated than recovering data from your desktop computer. Note that a laptop is compact and lightweight thus it will need special parts to go with it. business firewalls Moreover, a laptop is sealed so that it would be more difficult to gain access to the insides of this machine than with the desktop. In the event where you experience troubles with your laptop, if would be a good idea to bring it to the authorized service center for check up.

The technician may need to open up the laptop to find out what is wrong with it. It is not advisable for you to open your laptop on your own especially if you have no special knowledge in laptop technology. The danger with experimenting on your laptop by opening it and tinkering with the parts inside is that you could actually damage the system and lose all your files.

Some system damage could be irreparable so don't tinker with the system if you are not sure of what you are doing. Another reason why you should never attempt to open your laptop on your own is that laptops are very sensitive to dusk. If dust gets into you're the systems of your laptop, this could really wreck havoc on the systems. Laptops should only be opened in certain places where they could be protected from dust and other particles. Otherwise, you could seriously compromise the systems if you just open it without taking precautions.

When it comes to important files on your laptop, it would be wise to back up your files periodically. Remember that the mobile nature of the laptop makes it more susceptible to damage so you should be better prepared for any eventualities. You can burn important files to CDs, the USB drive or in one of those large capacity external drives which you can easily attached to the ports in your laptop firewall hardware.

Motorola XOOM Tablet PC Performance Review

The Motorola XOOM is the first tablet released by Motorola, and the first tablet which can pose a threat to the dominance of the iPad in the tablet PC market. In the next paragraphs we will assess the hardware of the XOOM Tablet.

The XOOM Tablet PC includes a Tegra 2Ghz dual-core chip which makes it very strong and capable of running many applications at once with no delay. This is contrary to the iPad which has only a single-core processor, which is slower. The XOOM Tablet PC also has 1GB of RAM (Random Access Memory) which is very good compared to just 256MB of the iPad. 1GB of RAM make sure that you can use various applications with no slowing down of the operating system and without affecting its background processes.

It also has 2 cameras: one front and one rear-facing, with 5MP and 2MP. The XOOM is also competent of 1040p quality video playback which is more than the iPad maximum which is 720p. It is also possible to use it to record 720p video. The XOOM is also designed extremely slick and is slightly larger then the iPad, with 10. firewall software 1" wide-screen crystal clear display.

Battery life is also a question with dual-core processors, but surprisingly it does not use more power, and in fact - less. Its battery can be used for 9 hours of browsing the internet at 3G network, 10 hours on Wireless WiFi internet, and 14 days of doing nothing. So you can use the XOOM for a whole day without worrying about charging. The built-in applications are of low-quality and do not look as attractive as the XOOM itself. They contain: Google Books, Web browser, calculator, new Calendar, new camera app, a Clock, new Contacts, Gallery, Latitude, Market, Places, Google Talk, and some more. Many of the apps were not developed for the Android and as a result they may close a bit aggressively.

One drawback of the XOOM is the fact that its SD slot is not yet activated, and as a result you are stuck with just the 32GB internal memory. business firewalls Motorola promised to publish a driver update that will activate this slot, this year.

The fee is also a question. TheXOOM costs $599 for two years contract with Verizon ($20 / month), or $799 with month-to-month contract, it is definitely not cheap. It is just slighlty cheaper than the iPad, though. In conclusion, the XOOM Tablet has potential, its chips is good and it is definitely here to stay.
